Single Gas Transformer DGA

The Hydran M2 is an economical, yet powerful all-in-one transformer monitoring device that allows utilities and other customers to deploy transformer monitoring to a large number of transformers that will benefit from its advanced features.

The Hydran M2 with models is an early warning device for detection of primary faults at transformers and other oil-filled equipment with its on-line fault gas and moisture sensors.

Additional analog and digital inputs allow the monitoring of other important transformer variables. The new transformer models extend the monitoring power and asset management capability of the Hydran M2, bringing more decision power to operation and maintenance personnel.



DGA monitoring

The MINITRANS is a low-cost on-line discrete multi-gas DGA transformer monitoring unit.

Based on the same core technology as the highly successful TRANSFIX the MINITRANS is a lower cost alternative, monitoring three key gases: Hydrogen, Acetylene and Carbon Monoxide (in ppm) plus moisture in oil (%RH & ppm). The measurement of these gases allows the user to detect a wide range of developing faults including arcing.



On-line DGA and Moisture for up to 3 Transformers and On-load Tap Changers

The MULTITRANS and TAPTRANS is an 8-gas on-line transformer DGA monitoring unit designed to monitor a bank of three single-phase transformers in close proximity. Based on the same core technology as the highly successful TRANSFIX the MULTITRANS measures all significant fault gases (in ppm) as outlined by international standards as well as moisture in oil (%RH & ppm). The measurement of these gases allows the user to detect and diagnose a complete range of transformer faults.
Also available as a DUALTRANS (2 tank analyzer) for monitoring 2 transformers in close proximity

The TRANSFIX is an 8-gas on-line transformer DGA monitoring unit. Using specially developed advanced photo-acoustic detection technology, the TRANSFIX measures all significant fault gases (in ppm) as outlined by international standards as well as moisture in oil (%RH & ppm). The measurement of these gases allows the user to detect and diagnose a complete range of transformer faults.

TM1800 Interface

OLTC’s installed in power transformers are of major importance in exploring and managing electrical networks.

Unfortunately they are in general responsible for 40% of the faults on power transformers.

Since maintenance is an important strategy base as established by the managers of the electrical network, the need arises to have complete measurement equipment in order to have the possibility of getting relevant measurements on the equipment in question

OSDRM 20 is a new designed tool to interface the OLTC Tap changer with TM1800 Megger Analyser.

The measurement system measures the static and dynamic resistance of all steps concerned in an automatic way.

These measurements can be planned following a preventive maintenance schedule, when gas formations are detected, or after an overhaul of the OLTC has been performed on the transformer.

For this application the TM1800 must be equipped with a sequencer program.





On-line mobile measuring of the water contamination of power transformers

SIMMS (Solid Insulation Moisture Measurement System) is a small portable diagnostic system, which can be easily and quickly connected to the oil sampling points of any transformer. Then, SIMMS automatically tracks the desired system temperatures and water content in the oil, and can provide the first data snapshot already within 30 – 40 minutes.

Moisture – dielectric diagnostics of power transformers

TRACONAL (TRANSFORMER CONTAMINATION ANALYSIS) is a software analysis system that mainly converts oil-sampling data (Cw and TTS) into the average water content (Cp – weight %) of the transformer cellulose materials.



On-line maintenance of power transformers

The basic rule for any treatment of the oil inventory is to remove only the undesired substances from the oil.The “soft” removal of the diluted water from the oil is easily achieved (without a high vacuum and high temperature, which potentially deteriorate the oil), by freezing up the water vapour under low vacuum and by reaching oil temperature rates at only about 60C, because the water removal process is simultaneously intensified by a so-called bubble bed procedure.

A continuous degassing of the oil without the undesired removal of light oil fractions enables the liquid piston principle simultaneously.

In the first stage (evacuation), the sinking oil level acts as a piston and creates the vacuum necessary to separate gases and vapours from the oil.

In the second stage (compression), the liberated gas mixture is gradually compressed by the rising oil level. The condensation of oil vapours takes place and the light fractions get mixed back in the oil. Only non-condensable substances are then expelled from the drier into surroundings.

Hermetization of power transformers

TRAFOSEAL I and II is focused on the reduction of the contamination of the oil inventory of a transformer by air gases and moisture.

As a “seal” the stratification layer is used, a natural and therefore long-lasting (and) indestructible membrane-like physical phenomenon, which is always spontaneously created in:

  • main tank – TRAFOSEAL I
  • auxiliary tank – TRAFOSEAL II

between the hot oil from the main tank and the cold oil from the conservator.



On-line maintenance of tap-changers

The continuous filtration of tap-changers of power (main) transformers is generally focused on the reduction of the internal contamination of its oil inventory caused by particules and moisture.

When an on-load tap-changer works under load the dirt is always internally generated causing an increase in mechanical wear and a reduction of the dielectric strength of the oil as a consequence.

An another very unpleasant decrease of the dielectric strength of a switching oil is simultaneously caused by the moisture.

The S-03 fitration unit was developed to handle a very new problem of recent versions of tap-changers built from non-hydroscopic (hydrofobic) insulants.
